It’s 5 pm on Friday here in London and the country is getting ready for a 3 day weekend and a serious streak of sunshine – I couldn’t be more excited.
After barely opening my computer during April, I feel like I’m getting back into the swing of things: I started working again (slowly), the panic of not knowing what to do with a baby has (somewhat) subsided, and I’m planning to spend as many hours as possible over this long weekend walking outside in the English countryside. Life feels good.
What would make life better for you?
The Worth Project is all about money, but money directly impacts the way you live your life, so I really want to know what would make life (and your money) even better?
I spent the last 5 weeks staring at a baby and not thinking about much other than what he was doing. Now, I’m ready to think about other things (while still probably spending 85% of my time thinking about what he’s doing). Those other things include what to write about every week on this site. I have a lot of ideas, but I want to make sure they’re right for you.
I have a quick little 4 question survey that I’d love for you to take. Click here for the survey. This Weekend Buzz is an archive but I always love feedback. Shoot me a message per the 2 questions below.
Is taking a survey too much for you on this Friday afternoon? I get it. Let’s make it easy. Hit reply and let me know (1) why you read this, and (2) what you’d like to see more of.
Adulting, made simple. I love pulling back the curtain to see how people live. I’m that houseguest that’s going to look in your fridge and scope out your daily routine because I love to get ideas for how to always do things differently and better. Like when I stayed at a friends house and she stored everything in Mason Jars. We suddenly had an order of 15 mason jars heading to our house. Though I like snooping I also like sharing. Here’s an inside peek at our routine of how we manage our money in 15 minutes per month.
I like free. I mean, who doesn’t? In this video I break down 4 tools that I use to help keep my money in check. And bonus, they’re all free! I may not be the best saver or the most organized, but these things make me look like I’m super put together.
We need to talk. Money & relationships can be tricky. I’m completely weird and love to hear how other people handle things because there’s no one right way to do it. Last month on The Everygirl I tracked down 3 other financial experts and asked about the biggest money disagreement they’ve gotten into with their S.O. and how they handled it. Plus, I included a disagreement Jordan and I faced year 1 of our marriage.
Make Me Smart: smart-ish reads from around the internet
Stop hitting snooze in your life. ⅓ of Americans feel dissatisfied with their life. That’s insane. How to get what you want. I can’t even get over this woman’s energy – watching this made me just want to get up and DO something (which considering how sleep deprived I am right now, is really saying something). I want to be her best friend. Want the simple (but not easy) way to get everything you want in life? Watch this video. And then try the 5 second rule today.
I’m super self-aware. Want to know what your fears say about you? A list of common phobias and what they really mean. Four burners.
This makes me uncomfortable. Have you heard of the four burners theory? I’ve read other things like this – in fact, at P&G we had a whole training on the idea that you can only have 5 things in your life that you care about. But 4 burners? It gets even more restrictive. But I get it – we’re all a little overwhelmed and try to do too much all the time. So as uncomfortable as this idea of shutting off your burners makes me, maybe it’s necessary?
